About Bensenville Early Learning Center

Bensenville Early Learning Center

Early childhood is a crucial stage in a child's development. Our mission is to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where young children can explore, learn, and grow. We are dedicated to fostering a love for learning and helping each child reach their full potential.

We understand that every child is unique, with their own set of interests, strengths, and needs. Our programs are designed to celebrate these differences by offering a variety of options to meet the needs of each child and family.

The District's early childhood programs serve approximately 300 students through federal and state grants. For children ages prenatal to 3 years old, our home-based services provide qualifying families with supports that promote positive parent-child interactions in a home setting.  Center-based services include the District’s PreSchool For All program, Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

We believe in the power of early childhood education to transform lives and build a strong foundation for future success. Our dedicated team is here to support your family every step of the way, ensuring that each child's unique needs are met with care and respect.

A PRODUCT OF PARTNERSHIP: The Creation of the Bensenville Early Learning Center

Bensenville Early Learning Center - Partnership Graphic

The Bensenville Early Learning Center is located at Tioga School, and it houses the District’s pre-kindergarten classes and the Head Start program operated by Metropolitan Family Services.

This unique community partnership between District 2 and Metropolitan Family Services began with the addition of a Head Start classroom at old Tioga School in 2012. When a 2016 study by DuPage County indicated there was an ongoing need to provide preschool services for an additional 180 at-risk children ages 3-5 in the BSD2 community, this partnership blossomed with the creation of the Bensenville Early Learning Center at the new, renovated and expanded Tioga School.

Construction began in 2016, with Metropolitan contributing about $1 million toward the $5.5 million project funded through the District’s cash reserves. In January 2018, the Bensenville Early Learning Center welcomed its first students to this four-classroom addition - two regular Head Start classrooms for students ages 3-5, and two Early Head Start classrooms for students ages birth-3.

From there, the Bensenville Early Learning Center continued to grow, as the District added another wing to the facility to house its growing pre-kindergarten and birth-to-3 program. That $4.7 million addition - once again funded through the District’s cash reserves - opened in the Spring of 2022 and provided five new classrooms, one gross motor space, and one flexible space for offices or a classroom.
